General description

Alien multi-use gun used by many stronger alien enemies. Has a variety of firing modes (via accessories) and ammunitions. Found pretty early in game. Fires colorful sprays, beams, etc. Basically an excuse to show stuff off. No idea how to explain away how it works...

Hardpoints

  • firing nozzle

Firing nozzle

  • beam - Most common on enemies, found early on, fires two streams in dual helix (DNA) pattern (where the name thread gun comes from).
  • spread - Scatters the beam into a short range, wide coverage, heavy damage pattern (similar to the stereotypical shotgun).
  • ball - Fires a concentrated ball of...stuff...that breaks apart on impact, like a grenade launcher (similar to the bio-rifle alt-fire in UnrealTournament)
  • pulse - This fires a certain ammount of ammo in 1 shot, it's like a spread shot concentracted in 1 position. The range is longer but the damage is still high. This should interesting when taking out squad leaders etc. After firing the gun will have to have a "cooling down" moment.

ammunition types

  • green - standard ammunition, medium damage to all targets, most plentiful
  • red - anti-metal (anti-vehicle), low damage to biological life
  • purple - anti-bio, low damage to vehicles

Notes

  • This is one of the Lynir weapons. This gun is a more advanced gun that gives the player a lot of choice on how to use it.
  • There are some of those guns, but normal grunts etc all use less sophisticated guns. These guns are for pack leaders, elite forces etc.
  • Ammo isn't that common, although it's not extremely rare either.
